CBD is both a science, and an art.
Let’s review some of the basic science to lay the groundwork.
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS for short, because science loves acronyms) is a vast network of chemical signals and cellular receptors that are densely packed throughout our brains and bodies. This system is responsible for maintaining homeostasis, or balance throughout the body – regulating everything from mood, to sleep, to immune function, hormone regulation, and more.
The most common receptors in the ECS are the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The ECS is a ‘regulating system’, so think of these cells like little ‘traffic lights’, controlling the levels and activity of most of the other neurotransmitters in our bodies. They regulate by providing immediate feedback, turning up or down the activity of whichever system needs to be adjusted.
To stimulate these receptors, our bodies naturally produce molecules called endocannabinoids. These naturally produced endocannabinoid molecules circulate in our bloodstream – and here’s the kicker – they have a structural similarity to molecules in the hemp plant.
Because of its vast impact on our body, keeping this system thriving and healthy is crucial because when our ECS itself is not balanced, it is unable to properly regulate these other systems, which can result in an array of wellness challenges.
Whew. That is the shorthand of the science behind why CBD works in our bodies.
Why You Should Take CBD Every Day?
Over time, due to a number of factors both internal and external – our ECS becomes depleted. Like many other systems in our body it breaks down and doesn’t function as it should due to stress, the environment, disease, age, etc.
CBD is a solution that can and will serve and replenish this important system. Phytocannabinoids to the rescue!
Phytocannabinoids, (for example CBD), are cannabinoids created by plants (the hemp plant). These plant-based cannabinoids share a strikingly similar molecular structure with our body’s own endocannabinoids. So, when they’re introduced into the human body – they behave like our human made endocannabinoids – and bind to and activate cannabinoid receptors of the ECS. In other words, they mimic our naturally produced endocannabinoids.
When we use CBD daily, we are augmenting the body with phytocannabinoids. We’re lending additional support which can result in a more balanced endocannabinoid system.

Very good explanation of the physical and chemical purposes of CBD. As a longer term user I can attest that sometimes the results are not apparent until one day you realize the reason you started taking CBD no longer bothers you and that makes you happy you started. There is a lot of misinformation existing about CBD and other cannabinoid compounds. Perhaps a lesson on distinguishing between CBD, CBN, and, most importantly, THC for those who might be reluctant to start a therapeutic CBD regimen.
